Background:
Dr. Lagen Orhynchus is a chief scientist in the Covert Engineering & Technology division (CET) of the Atlantean Counter Espionage Agency (ACEA). His primary function is to develop new tools for the agency to use in their work. Every once in a while he develops an outlandish but somewhat unreliable device. In these cases, Dr. Orhynchus seldom feels comfortable releasing them to the agency at large.

Lagen is a bit of a maverick, however, and sometimes volunteers for special or dangerous missions for CETACEA, concealing his identity and operating under the codename Stingray. He usually takes his special devices with him, disguised as simple medallions of the specific animal.
Other than his psionic device, which is reliable but requires a superhuman intelligence of 25 or greater to use, the devices Stingray carries occasionally require more effort to make them work. Each time one of the devices is used, roll a d20. On a 1, the device is acting up and Dr. Orynchus must spend 1d6 Power Points to correct it or the device doesn’t work (no power points are spent if it doesn’t.)

Dargon Eest

Ok so heres the backstory for my savage worlds character Dargon Eest, the drakin chosen sorcerer.

Dargon was sitting on the steps of the temple. He reviewed what his elders had told him. He unfurled his magnificent wings. They weren't quite powerful enough to fly yet, but he could at least glide a little. his mentors told him he had potential to become a sorcerer, but he had a lot of trouble developing his strength and endurance that yet another would be impossible, especially on the noisy island that he lived on. He had made up his mind to leave.
When he woke up, he asked the person staring at him where he was. The stranger, who revealed himself to be an ex-oak-thorn, told Dargon he beached his flying canoe on freedom isle after a particularly powerful windstorm. Later that day, the new friends fought some oak-thorns trying to invade freedom isle, and, once they were subdued, they released the prisoners, who assisted them in their crusade.

yea ok so that's it.

Monsterpocalypse

The game where you are giant monsters destroying cities and other monsters, Monsterpocalypse is a game where you play Godzilla, or Power Rangers, or even Cthulhu. There are currently 12 factions. the first 6 are; G.U.A.R.D. which are like giant robots, Terrasaurs, which is like Godzilla, Lords of Cthul, which are cthulhuoids, Planet Eaters, who are giant armored killer aliens, Martian Menace, which are, well, martians, and last but not least, Shadow Sun Syndicate, which are kinda like Power Rangers. the next 5 don't have quite as many figures. they are, Elemental Champions, who are elementals allied with the g.u.a.r.d. Empire of the Apes, who are monkeys and gorillas who are allied with Terrasaurs, Subterran Uprising, who are drill creatures who are allied with the Lords, Tritons, wh o are underwater monsters allied with the martians, Savage Swarm, who are fly-like demons allied with the planet eaters, and Ubercorp, who are a bunch of copies of other monsters and units, and they are allied with the syndicate.
ok if i try to explain this it's gonna suck, so if you're interested, and have 97 spare kb, then download this.

Thanks everybuggy!!!!!!

Kendrykk and Janesca

Here is the writeup for my two Star Wars characters in our long running Clone Wars campaign.
They turned out to be a great combination and were among my favorite characters to play in recent memory.

---------------------
The Wookiee Kendrykk Bulazi grew up contentedly on Kashyykk, training from an early age to one day join the Elite Defenders, a professional group of soldier/scouts who hire out their services as bodyguards to diplomats of planets with whom they have good relations. His natural aptitude for climbing (a favorite means of escape for the defenders) and a reputation for dreadful raging were key to his acceptance in the group.

The Elite Defenders undergo rigorous physical endurance training, with the belief that most threats in their line of work will be best dispatched by through immediate initiative and decisive action. They learn to evade blasts and shake off the effects of an attack quickly if they don’t.

While Defenders are primarily melee fighters, they still train in the basic use of bowcasters, realizing the need to sometimes engage from afar. The final, crowning achievement of the Defender training, and one of its most valued, is their ability to step into harm’s way to prevent damage to their assigned charge, something Kendrykk has had to do more than once.

Kendrykk was still in training when he was assigned to The Pantor, the trade ship of Duke Alecksys Tor, along with two more experienced Wookiee Defenders. He was only two years into his service when The Pantor was attacked by an unidentified pirate ship. While defending Duke Alecksys Tor, one of the Wookiees was quickly killed and the other injured. The second was still valiantly defending the Duke when Kendrykk rushed to help. The Duke quickly dismissed him, telling Kendrykk it was more important to protect his daughter Janesca Tor, who had become Kendrykk’s friend and unofficial responsibility. He immediately complied, rushing to her room and encouraging her to leave. Kendrykk dispatched several attackers and kept Janesca from being hurt several times on the way to one of The Pantor’s starfighters. Janesca returned the favor through her adept handling of the ship, escaping the most determined of the pirate attacks.

-------
Early in her life, Janesca Tor realized that she would never become Duchess, being the seventh child in a family of ten. Her father, Duke Alecksys Tor of Tor Valderemo, was responsible for coordinating interplanetary trade, an important and time consuming job, as Tor Valderemo is second only to Lianna in its proximity to the Perlemian Trade Route within the Tion Sector. Not one to give up easily, Janesca, a very bright and charming girl, would often accompany her father on his sometimes lengthy journeys. Here she learned the importance of persuasiveness and the details of bureaucracy and varied galactic lore as an occasional participant in official business. Her quick mind easily picked up a number of languages, including several that are often used in trade negotiations.

Janesca lost interest in such matters, however, as her mind was always racing and her introspective nature hampered her potential career as a skilled negotiator. The operation of her father’s starship, The Pantor, provided more of a mental challenge and she soon learned its ins and outs, being a naturally gifted fighter pilot and a capable mechanic. Her insatiable curiosity for all things related to space travel and the extended trips gave her plenty of time to explore the computer systems and to gain a deep understanding of both the technology and physical scientific underpinnings of space travel.

On one of the trips with her father, however, something went terribly wrong. All she remembers of that fateful day is one of her father's personal bodyguard, the Wookiee Kendryk Bulazi, showing up at her door and telling her that he would quickly accompany her to the nearest starfighter and escape. She did so and only her amazing luck managed to keep her and the Wookiee alive as they maneuvered through a barrage of enemy fire.

The official report is that The Pantor is still missing in space, due to an astrogation malfunction and that there is still hope for finding the ship. Early on, Janesca tried to convince space officials that the attack was the reason for the disappearance, but she always ran up against the final transmissions of the ship, which described the ship system failure after successfully fending off a minor pirate attack. Janesca feels it is her destiny to find out what happened to her father and she has a hunch that it will lead to something bigger and much more serious than a simple ship malfunction to warrant such a cover-up.

Xorthon's Quest

Hi everybuggy,

I thought I'd write a backstory my Wizard Xorthon. Soo here it is....

Long ago there was a mighty wizard by the name of Dorealen, who was one of the revered Starlight Mages*. One fateful day, Xorthon and his sister, Seliia were practicing the longbow when their father came stumbling in the yard. He was clutching a heavily bleeding wound in his shoulder. Xorthon and Seliia came running over and he motioned for them to stop. Then he took his hands and moved the very air around him into a cocoon. Xorthon asked his mother, a powerful druid, what was happening.
She spoke softly, "This is the starlight cocoon. One of the final steps to becoming a full starlight mage. He will remain inside until he is ready." She turned away abruptly, facing Xorthon.
"He wanted you to have this when this happened." She unwrapped a diminutive package, and placed a small vial in the young elf's hand.
"It's liquid starlight." she said, looking out into the sky. then quickly turned back to the shell which Dorealen lie within. "I'll take care of this,"
She whistled loudly, and a large reddish worm-like creature tunneled out from the ground. It's head radiated heat and magma as it surfaced. She looked at it hard, sending some sort of signal between them. The creature dug back down and this time emerged underneath the mighty wizards cocoon. Then Xorthon's mother jumped aboard a strange saddle on the thoqqua's** back.
"Continue you training Xorthon. You will one day be as powerful as you father." She spoke confidently. "Seliia, come."
The little elven girl hopped on the elemental and they rode away.
Since then Xorthon has been traveling, hoping to gain knowledge of how to become a starlight mage and where his long lost family is.
**Thoqqua, page 242 of the Monster Manual.
here's a pic

Xorthon has a half-nymph wife named Fellion and a daughter named Yaolan, who will one day also be a starlight mage.

Wow that was long. K thanks everybuggy!!!!

Elven Wisdom

Avel niemel sikki mor hiedoso welsa, op avel inorum nekra.
An elven saying that means " A sword unseen is no less sharp then a sword held openly, or one in it's sheath. It basically means, beware the unseen danger, and the danger that is present but kept in check.
Had to share that.

Car Wars

In a similar vein to Starfire, I also have a number of Car Wars vehicles that I may post simply for vanity/nostalgia's sake.

I introduced Tynan to Car Wars a few months back and while we only had one adventure (he had two security cars protecting the town from a marauding motorcycle gang) it did have some vivid images associated with it.

I lost the motorcycle leader on a bad turn who slid across the street for quite some time, and Tynan had one of his vehicles roll over exactly four times, back onto his tires, battered, but still able to move and shoot.

Of course he saved the town and the day!

Starfire

I just rediscovered my copy of Starfire from Task Force Games and I loved the simplicity of creating ships and having simple, quick battles.

I found a few of my old notes and here are a couple of little gems:

Simple campaign:

Tech LevelCostNotes
I12,000
II32,500
III74,000Base
IV101,000
V106,000Base

What we did was allow you to use the money in the next round to repair ships from the previous round and build new ships. We used the 10% discount for mass building.

Here are a few of the ships:

Escorts
Algiers, Biskra, Casablanca, Dakhla
ES - SSAHIIRIIII
Fast, Distance attacker, but vulnerable

Corvettes
Minsk, Kirov, Yortu, Lodz
CT - SSAHIIRIIRII
Fast, Distance attacker, but vulnerable
Unnamed
CT - SSSAAGIRIII

I liked fast ships with missile launchers, what can I say? Also, the only non-TL1 ship so far
Unnamed
CL - SSSSSSSSAAAAAA(G)RI(L)I(L)II
Another slower, heavily armored ship. I wonder which one would do better?

Here are a few that used Starfire II. They were a fleet:
Escort

Greetings!

Hi all,

This Blog is about two generations of gamers and their musings, observations, likes/dislikes, what have you.

I'm Marc, the Dad, and Tynan is my son.

Hopefully we'll get some posts going soon.

As time passes, we also hope to add some other two-generation viewpoints.
